Lioness
Lioness is the first painting I created in 2026- a piece born at the intersection of intention, grief, and hope.
As a first-generation Iranian American, creating this work meant holding the weight of watching a new revolution unfold in Iran while still choosing to show up as an artist. It carries the devastation of witnessing innocent lives lost under a brutal dictatorship, but it is equally rooted in hope- hope for change, hope for revolution, and hope that this resistance is not in vain.
This painting is an homage to Iranian women- their courage, resilience, and unwavering strength. They are the heart of this movement, leading with bravery in the face of unimaginable risk. Lioness was created to honor their voices, their uprising, and their refusal to be silenced.
For those in Iran: you are seen.
For those of us in the diaspora: we are watching, we are here, and we will continue to amplify your voices.
This piece stands as a symbol of pride, resistance, and the enduring power of women who rise- again and again.
